I met with Congressman Brad Schneider and we had a great conversation. I shared my story about living with diabetes. We discussed Illinois HB-5653 and the need for increased test strips for individuals with diabetes.
I made him aware of the struggles diabetics have with test strips, the denials from insurance companies, the out-of-pocket costs to families, and the effects it has on the diabetics.
I also showed him my pump and continuous glucose monitor. My sister Lindsay explained how much diabetes affects the entire family. I’m very fortunate to have such a great support system with my sisters and my family.
Most importantly, Congressman Schneider will continue to be on the diabetes caucus and will continue to support increased federal funding for diabetes in 2015.
